About Sri Lanka

Ancient and exotic, Sri Lanka always occupied a prominent place in history because of its strategic position along the Spice Route.

Its diverse heritage, which reflects roughly 2000 years of cultural influences from throughout Eurasia, has been preserved in the exquisite forms of eight Unesco World Heritage Sites. In addition to these many historical attractions, Sri Lanka also boasts splendid beaches, sumptuous cuisine, and abundant wildlife, including many wild Asian Elephants and Leopards.

Thomson Experiences in Sri Lanka

ARTS & CULTURE
With eight Unesco World Heritage Sites to choose from, Sri Lanka is a veritable hotbed of historical treasures.
PHOTOGRAPHY
One of eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Citadel of Sigiriya, or Lions Rock, is among the most photogenic. In addition to its spectacular design, its position atop a natural, 660-foot-high rock outcrop also provides magnificent views of the surrounding landscape.
WILDLIFE
Despite its relatively small size, the island nation of Sri Lanka is blessed with large areas of natural habitat that support healthy populations of native animals. Asian Elephants and Leopards thrive here as do more than 400 species of birds. The waters surrounding Sri Lanka are among the best in the world for seeing the largest of all animals, the Blue Whale.
MULTI-GENERATIONAL

Traveling the world with your family is like sharing a box filled with presents. The box is the world itself and the presents are the bonds that form through the experiences we share, and the perspective, patience, understanding, and tolerance we gain from expanding our horizons and seeing how other people live. There is no greater gift.
